Just a simple video I shot of my friends and I having an old fashioned pool party, fueled by alcohol, barbecue and funky tunes. Life moves fast, document the good times. The song is by Shook and it's called "Hold Tight".
As we welcome the spooky month of October, we get the inevitable releases of some scary horror films to go along with Halloween. With the remake of Carrie coming out soon, this has got to be one of the most interesting, impressive and powerful marketing move I've ever witnessed.
I'm no designer, but...
I'm screaming with excitement for Ridley Scott's new movie 'The Counselor'. With a high profile list of actors, ranging from Brad Pitt to Michael Fassbender to Penelope Cruz to Javier Bardem, this film is surely to be a winner. Bardem is rocking a crazy hairdo too, but it's not as creepy as his role in 'No Country For Old Men'. Check out the trailer below.
When 'House of Cards' came out on Netflix, the internet went wild. But when they won an Emmy? The television industry began to worry. Things are changing and the television industry is beginning to deteriorate with the rise of shows from Netflix, Amazon and other tech companies. With shows like 'House of Cards' and 'Orange is the New Black', it's really interesting to see where the television industry is heading. If you have not had the pleasure of watching Kevin Spacey in HoC, then you need to get with the program. He is absolutely mesmerizing as he plays the Democrat House Majority Whip, who is quite conniving with his political scheming. Below is Kevin Spacey speaking about how tech companies, such as Netflix, have the "potential to disrupt the traditional cable and network TV model of forcing content creators to make a pilot before accepting a show" (BI). For now, I'm patiently waiting for Season 2 of 'House of Card'.
Last Friday and Saturday I was fortunate enough to travel to Dallas, TX for work. I was contracted to shoot some promo videos for MillerCoors. During my trip I came across Texas' favorite burger joint, Whataburger. I guess this is the South's answer to the West Coast favorite, In-N-Out. They didn't even come close, believe me. Check out the pictures below of my trip to Dallas, Whataburger and a Nordic coin that I came across.
Foodbeast got a special invite this past weekend to attend a very porky event, Pig Out 2.0. We had the pleasure of trying multiple delicious pork dishes by 15 chefs from around Orange County, as well as some tasty cocktails. The 'pig centric social' was so fun that I forgot to take pictures of all the food (oops). Below are some pictures of cocktails that I found to be my favorite as well as some pig meets duck sliders, which I probably won't ever eat again. Not that I hate pork or anything, I'm just not that fond of it that much, especially duck. Don't get me wrong though, bacon and I are good friends. In fact, I had the pleasure of enjoying the company of bacon this morning with my eggs. He says 'hello'.
This little cocktail was prepared for me by Joseph Valdovinos of Little Sparrow in Santa Ana. It's called 'Pig & A Poke Punch' and it definitely delivers a jab with every sip. With Azunia Tequila, it's mixed with roasted hatch chile shrub, fresh lemon, honey and garnished with chicharron. One of my new favorites, recommended if you like spicy drinks.
Brought to you by Harlow's, the 'San Juan Sassparillo' cocktail with candied tea leaves to bite before sipping. This cocktail contains Angel's Envy Bourbon, Hoja Santa cucumber tea, vanilla syrup, and fresh squeezed lemon. This drink was perfect to end the event with, refreshing and not too sweet. Taking a bite of the candied tea leave before sipping is essential.
Had the pleasure of enjoying the L.A. sun all the way up in the Hollywood Hills, to celebrate the 'East Meets West' collaboration between The Hundreds and Clot. Thanks for the invite guys, the Foodbeast crew had a great time. Check out the video promoting the collaboration and some pictures from the party below.
As most of you know, Brazil will be hosting the World Cup in 2014, which will last about a month between June and July. Today they began the random drawing process for tickets. This first phase will last till October 10th.
I'm looking forward to traveling down there next year, not only to cheer on the Brazilian Sambas, but to also have an adventure! I haven't traveled out of the U.S. since my trip to Beirut in 2011. And I'm itching to experience South America!
Currently, I'm looking for a travel companion that is willing to drink as much cerveja (beer) as we can while yelling "GOL" at the top of our lungs.
Apply for tickets to games here.
After my dear friend, DJ Henthorn, introduced me to Disclosure, I have since paid it forward. Music is meant to be shared and enjoyed with others. Here is one of my favorite songs and music videos by Disclosure. A big shout out to Sam Smith for laying down those radiant vocals and keeping the groove sexy.
